Prince Edward Island is located on the eastern coast of Canada. You will find our province in the Gulf of St. Lawrence surrounded by the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.

How large is Prince Edward Island?
 Prince Edward Island is 275 km from North Cape, the western most tip, to East Point, the point furthest east.

What is the population?
 The population of the entire province is 135,000. Charlottetown, the capital city, has a population of 30,000. Summerside, the second largest city, has a population of just over 14,500.

How do I get to Prince Edward Island?
Most students fly directly to Charlottetown. However, we also do airport pick-ups in Moncton, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

If you are driving, you can take the ferry from Caribou, Nova Scotia. This ferry service operates from May to December.

The Confederation Bridge is a quick, convenient way to come to Prince Edward Island. This 13-kilometre bridge joins Borden-Carleton, PEI and Cape Jourimain, NB. It is the longest bridge over ice covered waters in the world. The Confederation Bridge opened on May 31, 1997 and takes approximately 10 minutes to cross.

What are the main industries?
Tourism, farming and fishing are the three main industries in the province.

What is the weather like?
Prince Edward Island has four distinct seasons. Spring is comfortable with temperatures that range from 8 to 22 degrees C. Come enjoy the miles of lupins (wild flowers which grow along 
the roads)!

Summer is hot, but rarely humid. Daytime temperatures are usually in the 20s, but can go as high as 32 degrees C. On Prince Edward Island, you are never far from the sea and our beautiful beaches.

Autumn temperatures range from 8 to 22 degrees C. The afternoons can be quite warm and the evenings are cool. You’ll enjoy the beautiful fall colors.

Winter is crisp and clean. Temperatures normally range from -3 to -11 degrees C. Come join us on a sleigh ride through the beautiful countryside.

Who is our most famous authoress?
Lucy Maud Montgomery, who wrote the well-known novel Anne of Green Gables, was born on the north shore of Prince Edward Island and raised in Cavendish where she lived until she married at age 37. During the summer months, the Anne of Green Gables musical is a must-see. Visit Green Gables house in Cavendish and follow in Montgomery’s footsteps as you walk down Lover’s Lane or through the Haunted Woods.
