Helen is a graduate of Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation Management, a graduate of Athabasca University (Athabasca, Alberta) with a Masters of Arts in Integrated Sciences in Educational Studies, and has a TESL Canada Level 3 Certificate. She lived in Japan for over 7 years. Helen is one of the founders of Study Abroad Canada Language Institute (SACLI). She currently oversees the marketing and sales of SACLIs language programs. She is fluent in French and has a basic understanding of Japanese and Spanish.

Jaime-Lyn
Director of Operations
Jaime-Lyn has a Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) from the University of Prince Edward Island. She taught in Korea prior to returning to PEI. Jaime-Lyn is certified by TESL Canada as a Level 1 instructor. She has been with SACLI since the spring of 2006 and prior to becoming the Director of Operations she was Director of Academic Programs and as well, Coordinator for Tutors on Demand.
Elizabeth
Director of Academic Programs
Elizabeth moved to Prince Edward Island in July 2007. She was born in the United States, but has lived, studied and taught in various countries such as China, Switzerland and the U.K. Elizabeth has a Master’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, as well as a Master’s degree in English Education from Columbia University in New York. She received her TESL training in London, England where she taught classes for refugees from all over the world. Elizabeth loves to travel and experience new places. She enjoys reading, writing and spending time with her family.
Vi
Registrar / Accounting Technician
Vi was born and raised in Prince Edward Island. She graduated from college with an Administrative Assistant Certificate and an Accounting Technician Diploma. She started working at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in the fall of 1999. Vi handles all student registration documents and accounts. She is very knowledgeable and has extensive experience with all aspects of international student travel. Vi likes to travel and, in the summer, you will always find her enjoying the beautiful beaches of Prince Edward Island.
Jen
Assistant Director of Academic Programs
Jen was born and raised in Prince Edward Island and presently lives in Charlottetown with her young family. She is a graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island where she received a Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Political Studies, and a graduate of the University of Maine at Fort Kent where she received an Education Degree. Jen began her career at SACLI in the spring of 2009. She coordinates the TESL program for SACLI and oversees the tutoring program in conjunction with the education department of PEI.
Belinda
Administrative Assistant
Belinda received an Events and Conventions Management diploma from the Atlantic Tourism and Hospitality Institute (Holland College). She has extensive experience in diverse office environments. Belinda’s strong organizational skills ensure that the office runs smoothly. Belinda enjoys getting to know our students and is often the first person that they meet upon arrival at SACLI. She joined the SACLI team in the fall of 2010.
Jarek
IT Specialist
Jarek assists the crew with their everyday office battles. Killing viruses, protecting the health of servers and resurrecting fallen machines are things he does best; backed up with a rich history to prove it.
Our Teachers
Laura Blinder has been teaching at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute full-time since January 2009. She is an instructor in the Academic area of the Intensive English Program. Laura enjoys meeting people from many nations in her classroom and learning about their worldviews and ideas. She likes helping people integrate into life in Canada through teaching English. Some of her hobbies include running, playing basketball, travelling, volunteering and spending time with her husband and family. Her special interests are the Middle East and the Hebrew Language.
Chad Deagle began teaching at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in November 2009. Chad’s teaching experience comes primarily from his many adventures as a music educator. He specializes in guitar performance and advanced music theory. Chad has worked at UPEI as a music theory instructor and lecturer. Over the past ten years, Chad has been teaching music in various locations and has recently crossed over into language instruction in the Intensive English Program at SACLI.
Belinda Doyle
Belinda joined the SACLI team in June of 2010. She teaches high beginner ESL classes. She enjoys interacting with and learning about her students. When not teaching, Belinda enjoys travelling, martial arts and studying Chinese medicine.
Tiffany Gallant
Tiffany began teaching at SACLI in November of 2007. She primarily teaches low-intermediate/beginner ESL classes. In the past, Tiffany has worked within the Junior Vacation program. Tiffany enjoys the countless things her students teach her as well as the activities used to help students acquire English language skills. Tiffany enjoys travel, various assortments of adventure, and hot PEI summers.
Peter Grandy began teaching full time at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in July of 2010 by teaching our Junior Vacation program. In the fall he began teaching within the Intensive English Program. Peter enjoys meeting people from various cultural backgrounds. He also enjoys playing board games, racket sports and basketball, and socializing with friends.
Chris Hawkins began teaching at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute since August of 2001. He has been a full-time and part-time instructor during his time at SACLI. Chris is currently part-time and teaches Academic Reading, Writing, and Grammar. The thing he most enjoys about teaching English is the opportunity to interact with students. ESL provides challenges – to reach students, to introduce English to them, and to encourage and appreciate student progress. Chris has always been passionate about teaching and interacting with students of all ages. He is also an outdoor enthusiast and is interested in health, fitness, travelling, reading, and his family.
Susan Hawkins began her teaching career at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in the summer of 2001 with the Junior Vacation Program. She has also taught the Intensive English Program and the TOEFL class, and is currently a full-time teacher for the Labour Market Access Program (Business). She has experience teaching all levels and ages of students. She is passionate about teaching and loves teaching newcomers. Their stories are inspirational and sharing their culture is very special to Susan. Her hobbies include sports, reading, and travelling. She is also passionate about working with youth to help them make the world a better place.
Grace Kimpinski started working at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute full-time in July 2009. She has taught the TOEFL and Labour Market Access Program (business) in the past and currently teaches in the Academic area of the Intensive English Program. Grace loves knowing that she is making a positive impact in the lives of people who come from other parts of the world, and she also loves getting to learn about those different parts of the world from students she teaches. As the single mother of a fantastic eight-year-old boy, Grace’s interests and hobbies include her son and doing activities together, like playing guitar, games, television, and writing about events they experience together.
Craig MacPherson joined the staff of Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in June of 2010. He has taught mid-level ESL classes in the past and is now teaching pre-LINC classes at SACLI. He enjoys watching his students’ progress and likes meeting new people and hearing about their experiences. Craig has a wide variety of interests. He likes music and design, learning new languages and Chinese martial arts.
Chris Robison
Chris began teaching at SACLI in September of 2009. He enjoys meeting new people and learning about other cultures. Chris enjoys playing and writing music. He plays guitar in a Charlottetown band called The North Lakes.
Karen Samples began teaching at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute full-time in November 2009. She currently teaches in the Intensive English Program. Karen loves teaching adults and learning about the many cultures represented in her classroom. Her hobbies include reading, video games, and spending time with her husband, Josh, and their dogs, Lucy and Felix.
Sharon Sawyer began teaching at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute in the spring of 2010. Sharon teaches intermediate academic classes.
Jonathon Simmonds
Jonathan began teaching at SACLI in October of 2010. He teaches beginner ESL classes to newcomers to Canada. He enjoys making lessons as fun and interactive as possible so language classes become something to enjoy that than a hard slog. Seeing a group of people from different backgrounds and cultures learn to work and learn together is very rewarding. Raising his five children in a farmhouse in the beautiful countryside of PEI is a dream come true for him. He enjoys renovating the house and trying to live simply by planting their own vegetables and doing lots of canning to keep them through the winter. His other hobbies are photography and painting.
