Sensation began in Amsterdam in 2000 and since than more than half a million people across the world have experienced one of the most spectacular dance and music phenomenon in the world.

 

The first Sensation took place in the Amsterdam arena home of football club Ajax and was experienced by 20.000 clubbers.

 

The first Sensation was not sold out but to keep the buzz alive the media said that it was.

In the following year, Duncan Stutterheim one of the CEO’s, asked the visitors to dress completely in white as a tribute to his younger brother who had died in a car crash that year.

 

The number of party people had doubled to 40.000 and 95% of all the visitors were dressed in white, which created such a staggering image that from than on at every edition the people were dressed in white.

The first Sensation ever was a unique event in the world because no one had ever tried to organize a party in a football stadium. This was the only sensation which used the long side of the arena for the main stage.

 

 

Since 2001  the main stage is in the middle of the arena which creates a better ‘’sensation’’. The deejay stands in the middle of a huge arena filled with 40.000 crazy, wild, stunning amazed party people.

 

The deejays take the visitors on a journey during a 9 hour spectacle of extraordinary shows acrobats, actors, state of the art laser shows, lasers and fireworks.

Many of them refer it as a highlight of their career.

 

Deejays are handpicked to open or to close Sensation in their own country in front of their own home crowd.

 

Besides the deejay and the performances, the mega mix is for many party people the climax of the evening.

 

During this 30 minute show, the people and the music itself are the stars, not the deejay.

 

This musical trip through history with old and new classics combined with a spectacular laser show and fireworks is one of the best masterpieces of Sensation.

 

With a different show every year from Space to the Garden of Eden and the Ocean of White, every single show is completely different.

 

The new theme is always launched in the Amsterdam arena before the show travels around the world.

 

Sensation has expanded to many countries in Europe, such as Belgium, Germany, Russia, Poland, Denmark, Austria, Portugal and the UK as well as other countries in the world such as Australia, Chili and Brazil.
