
Study Abroad Canada Language Institute (SACLI) is a federally registered language institute in Canada that is also recognized by the provincial Department of Education and Early Childhood Education of Prince Edward Island. SACLI is also a certified teacher training site and provides certification that is recognized by TESL Canada. It is also a member of Languages Canada.
The courses at SACLI ensure that all students are prepared to further their studies at the University of Prince Edward Island. Teachers and staff hold master’s degrees and/or bachelor’s degrees related to the education field, as well as a TESL Canada Professional Certificate, and vast teaching and management experience in the United States, Canada, China and other parts of Asia.
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is located in the outskirts of Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is home to approximately 4000 students. These numbers allow UPEI to maintain small classes that promote maximum interaction between students and teachers. UPEI has the best student-teacher ratio in the country, and has been consistently ranked in the TOP 10 by “Maclean’s”, the prestigious news magazine. UPEI was also named Canada’s top university for student-faculty interaction in the 2006 National Survey of Student Engagement. Among its faculty, UPEI has many well-known and award-winning professors, of which, four have received the 3M Teaching Fellowship, Canada’s highest level of education award. The faculty and staff of UPEI strive to create a welcoming, safe, and caring environment, where all students have the opportunity to reach their potential as lifelong learners.
The university offers bachelor’s degree programs in the arts, the sciences (including biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and statistics, computer technology), education, nursing, business administration and veterinary medicine. UPEI also has graduate degrees for veterinary medicine, science, island studies, education, applied health services research and business administration (MBA). The business, physics and computer science programs all have cooperative education and internship components that provide students with a wide range of opportunities for social interaction.
The university provides a flexible meal plan and the dormitory facilities are clean, safe, and well-equipped. All students have access to academic counselling to ensure that they maintain a healthy and positive outlook towards their academic studies.

Students enter the Academic English Program (AEP) at Study Abroad Canada Language Institute for 24 weeks. These English courses focus on student academic and research skills that are necessary for a smooth entry into UPEI or another Canadian University. After successful completion of this program students may then enter a four year degree program at UPEI and are exempt from taking the TOEFL and IELTS tests.

Language Focus: Academic Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
