Course Description

This online, group-paced course is a comprehensive introduction to the field of Teaching English as a Second Language. The course includes theory and its practical application as both are important in the development of an ESL teacher. English Grammar is also an integral part of the course it is essential to be familiar with the grammatical terms used frequently in the classroom. The 11 week course will be divided into two-week modules, each focusing on a different aspect of teaching, with an additional introductory week at the beginning of the program where we will focus on learning how to navigate the course and getting to know each other.

What is Moodle?

Moodle is a multi-faceted Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that offers rich interaction between instructors and students. Each course will have an online 'classroom' where you will have access to your instructor, other learners and course materials, along with a variety of tools, features and interactions to enhance your learning experience. Students can expect  to spend approximately 20 hours on coursework every two weeks, with a total of 100 hours overall. The course will be delivered using Moodle, an online learning environment. This program is recognized by TESL Canada. After completion, students can apply for the TESL Canada Professional Certificate: Standard One.
