Frequently Asked Questions

Before Arriving

When should I arrive?

You should arrive the Sunday before classes begin.

Can I arrive early or stay a few extra days?

Yes, you can. Please contact our registrar to enquire about the additional fee.

Who will meet me at the airport?

Your homestay family will be at the airport to welcome you to Prince Edward Island.

What will the weather be like during my stay?

Summer on PEI is very comfortable. You should bring lightweight clothes like t-shirts, shorts, lightweight pants and jackets. And don’t forget your bathing suit! Temperatures go down, especially in the evening, so you’ll need a light jacket, pants and sweaters. Winter can be cold, so you will need a warm coat, boots, hat, scarf, and gloves, especially if you plan to spend time outdoors enjoying the snow or skating. In spring, the temperatures start to warm, so sweaters and a light jacket maybe enough. You also may want to bring an umbrella for strolling through the spring showers. You can check the weather here.

How can my family contact me?

If you are staying with a homestay family, we will send you the homestay family’s contact information including their address and phone number. Your family can contact you at your homestay family’s home or at our school. Our school’s phone number is (902) 628 2379 and our fax number is (902) 892 1198. Our mailing address is Study Abroad Canada P.O. Box 3231 Charlottetown, PE Canada C1A 7N9.

How far in advance do I have to pay tuition and school fees?

All fees must be paid 30 days before the first day your class.

Should I get travel/health insurance before I arrive?

Health insurance is necessary for students studying at our school. You can purchase it before you leave home, or you can purchase it through Study Abroad Canada. We use Guard.Me (www.guard.me). You may also purchase the insurance directly from them.
