My Experience in SACLI

Congratulations to former SACLI student, Diana Hao!

Diana has just graduated from the 2-year International Hospitality Management program at Holland College. Diana and her family came to PEI in 2007 from Shandong Province in China. Diana would truthfully admit that when she arrived she had a very, very low level of English ability. She didn’t think she would ever be able to learn well enough to go to college.

Diana studied very hard at SACLI for many years, often frustrated with her progress. She persevered, continued to work on her language skills as a full-time SACLI student as well as working at a local hotel. Her determination to succeed was always evident.

As a result of Diana’s resolve to learn English and get a good position on PEI, she has been rewarded by being hired as the Housekeeping Supervisor at The Delta Prince Edward, one of Charlottetown’s finest hotels. When she visited us today, she had already been working in this position for one month. Her new job requires that she use her leadership skills, time-management ability as well as supervise and oversee the rest of the housekeeping staff. Quite a challenge!

“Even if your English level is not very high, believe in yourself. Have a dream. You can do it.” These are the words of inspiration that Diana left with us. We would like to add that Diana is a brilliant example of what can happen when a person shows determination and strength of character.

SACLI salutes you, Diana Hao, on your fantastic accomplishment. We are very, very proud of you.

PS – Last fall, Diana’s husband, Bob, earned his Red Seal in Plumbing, the first Chinese person on PEI to have ever received this. Son Robert is also very accomplished. He is in his second year at the Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI.

Incredible family – wonderful story!
